Sixth Seal - "The Sky is Falling"
Revelation 6:12-17 I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as late figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The sky receded like a scroll, rolling up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and every free man hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. They called to the mountains and the rocks, Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?"
This passage contains the text “The sky receded like a scroll, rolling up” when a nuclear weapon mushroom cloud appears to roll the sky. John would not have known what an asteroid or a nuclear missile hitting the earth would look like 100 B.C.
"But in those days, following that distress, " 'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;
Before them the earth shakes, the sky trembles, the sun and moon are darkened, and the stars no longer shine.
The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.
We know these where not actual stars falling to earth but possible asteroids or nuclear missiles because stars are bigger than the earth. That would be an even bigger miracle if they were stars. They would have to travel millions of light years shrink in size so they would be able to do what’s described in this passage and still not completely destroy the earth and its inhabitants.
I can see this seal alone take the earth into a new dark age. That would explain the use of sword and horses for battle. Did the earth go back to a low technology world or is it based on todays or future technology? There are verses in Revelations that would support either scenarios, or a mixture of both.
